Condemnation

Condemnation, also called eminent domain, is the right of governmental bodies and certain private companies to acquire private property from an unwilling owner. The primary legal issues involved are whether the condemning authority has the right to “take” the property and the amount of compensation payable for the property taken. Condemnation is a field of law requiring specialized counsel.

We handle all aspects of condemnation law and have extensive experience representing both landowners and condemning authorities. We have defended private landowners in recent matters involving complicated appraisal issues, resulting in the recoveries of several million dollars.
